On-call schedule template: free download for Excel, Google Sheets and calendars
Type your team's names, pick the cadence and the first hand-over date, and get a filled 12-month on-call schedule: a table of who is on call when, an Excel-ready CSV (opens in Excel, Google Sheets and Numbers), and a calendar file (.ics) for Google Calendar, Outlook or Apple Calendar. Weekly, every weekday, every 2 weeks or monthly. Add away dates and the schedule skips the person who is away.
Free, no sign-up. Everything runs in your browser; the names are not sent anywhere or stored.
Your on-call schedule
Using the files
- Excel / Google Sheets: open the .csv (Sheets: File > Import). Columns: date, weekday, duty, on_duty, next. The Excel button adds a byte order mark so names with accents show correctly.
- Calendar: import the .ics (Google Calendar: Settings > Import). One all-day event per hand-over, no repeating rule, so every app imports it the same way.
- Changes: a downloaded schedule is a snapshot. When someone swaps or is ill, you edit the sheet by hand.
Post it in Slack automatically
A spreadsheet goes stale the first time two people trade weeks. Dutyroll posts who is on call in Slack on schedule, with Skip and Swap buttons, and the rota can be a live calendar link. Free for one rotation; $9/month per workspace for unlimited.
